In 2006, after 20 years in banking, something told me it was time to make a shift into the world of working with nonprofits; or maybe it was someone, namely my brother John, who asked me to join Capital Development. My background as a Senior Vice President with First Citizens Bank had honed my financial and sales skills and stressed the importance of exceptional customer service. For me, banking was a great mix between people and numbers, as I enjoy both. Likewise, my role as Vice President at CapDev affords me the balance of working closely with clients and serving in financial management arenas a natural fit for my people and business skills.
It has been instilled in me all my life to give back to the community, and I value my volunteer work with many nonprofit organizations, including board service roles such as: the NC Center for Public Television, Forsyth Tech Foundation, Forsyth Tech Board of Governors, Vienna School PTA, Board Chair of Central YMCA of Winston-Salem, Metro YMCA of Forsyth County, Wake Forest University Planned Giving Advisory Council and Leadership Winston-Salem Connections program. My involvement with these community organizations helped with an easy transition to Capital Development Services.
I enjoy managing our team of counsel staff ensuring that every client's fundraising needs are met. I love being personally involved with each client and ensuring our entire team is coordinating our services and experiences to provide the best fundraising counsel and executive search services possible.
A native of Winston-Salem, NC I grew up as the seventh of eight children. Although I loved coming from a big family, my husband Wesley and I felt two boys was perfect. I am a graduate of NC State University and the NC School of Banking. I enjoy work very much, but also like to play tennis, go horseback riding, snow skiing, hiking, traveling or just be outdoors.
