Retainer
Capital Development Services assigns a team of individuals to each client, including a
senior fundraising counselor who serves as project manager. Based on the project
manager's assessment of the client's needs, he or she coordinates a team of counselors,
prospect researchers, case and grant writers, and associates who can bring particular
expertise to apply to the client's financial development concerns. This team works
with the staff and volunteers of each client to address their particular fundraising goals
and objectives.
Retainer fees are based on a projected number of days required by Capital Development
Services' counsel staff to achieve each client's fundraising objectives. The number
of days of service and corresponding counsel fee can be adjusted up or down at any time
during the contract period. Expenses incurred on behalf of each client such as
travel, long-distance telephone, printing, facsimiles, etc. are billed directly each
month. Capital Development Service makes every effort to keep these expenses to a
minimum.
Cooperative Counsel
This is an arrangement whereby organizations pay only for the services they require and
request. Therefore, Capital Development Services can be retained on an hourly basis as
opposed to a standard monthly retainer. To begin this service, Capital Development
Services sends in one of our fundraising counsel staff for an assessment session to meet
the staff and other individuals involved with the organization's fundraising activities
and to review materials and become knowledgeable about their history, purpose, and goals
pertinent to its fundraising operations. Following assessment, a senior fundraising
counselor is assigned to serve as the liaison between Capital Development Services and the
organization and to coordinate the fundraising staff and resources needed by the
organization at any given time.
