Capital Development Services’ Executive Search Services division has again made its mark in the N.C. Triad with recognition on The Business Journal’s list of Largest Triad Executive Search Firms released February 15, 2008.
Executive search firms were ranked according to the number of executive searches completed in 2007, and then by total searches conducted. This year marked the second year that Capital Development Services made the list and was the only search firm on The Business Journal’s list serving the nonprofit sector.
Allan Burrows, President of Capital Development Services, is quoted in the article, responding to a question asking, “What are the most important characteristics an executive search consultant should have?” Burrows said, “It should be someone knowledgeable and networked in the industry, with experience coupled with a willingness to challenge assumptions, and an unquenchable desire to proactively seek the top passive and active candidates.”
Long known for the success it has brought to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the Southeast in its Campaign Group through fundraising consulting efforts, Capital Development Services now applies its 24-years of knowledge in the nonprofit sector to expand its Executive Search Services division to similar heights, recruiting and placing the highest caliber development professionals in positions to best meet the ever-demanding needs of the nonprofit world.

Save your lawyer jokes. He doesn’t fit the bill.
An attorney by trade, Ashley Thrift has negotiated high profile deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars, has served as chief of staff for former U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings, and is internationally sought after for his knowledge of the Chinese Business culture. But while the rest of us are sleeping, it's not the multi-million dollar deals that have him up at night; it's the children... North Carolina's children from low-income families who lack basic educational, health-care and nutritional essentials have him up, and on the road sometimes as early as 3:00 a.m.
A Charlotte native from modest beginnings, Ashley hasn't forgotten where he came from.

While many commuters hit the highway each morning in a fast paced frenzy to make it to the office, John Bennett takes time to smell the roses.
Well, not quite. But he does take time to admire a few buildings, such as food banks, schools and hospitals along the way.
"I pass food banks knowing that hunger and poverty are being fought. I drive by schools knowing children are being educated. And I pass hospitals, knowing people in need of medical attention have a place to go. It makes me proud to drive by the places that we've helped organizations build."
Twenty years ago, John Bennett and one assistant began helping a handful of nonprofit fundraising campaigns. Since then, Capital
Development Services' staff has increased more than tenfold and has been responsible... More...
